Moen makes some top-notch fixtures for the home. For a company that offers a Wifi capable faucet, a luxury adaptation of a French designed shower experience is not really a surprise. The Moen IN208H2 Aromatherapy Handshower with INLY Shower Capsules delivers exactly what it advertises. INLY is a brand from the Skinjay group. The Skinjay group is responsible for the capsule feature which is also available in luxury hotels and related products for the European market. From what I have learned, the scent pods are developed by world-famous perfumer Jean-Charles Sommerard of France. Inly offers four of the thirteen scents available from Skinjay to the hospitality and European market. In other words, this is a chance to have a high-end combination of products available to everyday common people at home.
The head measures five an a half inches across. This is a larger sized hand-held shower head. If you have adequate water pressure, you will have no issues. The hand held portion is plastic with some internal pieces being metal. Personally, I would prefer dropping some plastic onto the bottom of my shower than an all-metal one, which it''s only a matter of time until I do. I see the head being mostly plastic as a positive. The hose is metal wrapped. This is great as I''ve had children (for whatever reason) chew on plastic shower head hoses before. The mount was easy to attach to my existing hardware. I did not need any tools, I did not need plumbers tape, it took all of two minutes to have installed using nothing more than my own two hands. The different spray patters cover all the bases for me. It would have been nice to have a pause button, but that is my personal preference. I like that I only touch a button to cycle to another spray setting. I love the Magnetix feature. It was always a bit annoying to miss my aim in the shower while trying to place my old shower heads back into place. Until now, I was not aware this was available, but it''s genius. It makes it easier to handle children or pets in the shower and place the hand held part back onto the mount without missing a beat. The Inly capsule system on the back of the shower head is easy to use. It''s been fun trying the different scents with my partner to see what we would like to order for our future showers. The scented shower can certainly be romantic if you are so inclined.
I''ve found the Inly capsules work best on the lowest setting of the three. It''s helpful to shut-off exhaust fans as well, as the scent will linger in (or escape with) the steam. One of the capsules was quite potent. We let it flow for a minute or two, then closed the capsule lever. During my next shower, I opened it again and the scent was just as strong as the first time. I have a strong feeling this will vary user to user, but it''s been my experience one capsule can last for two sessions. What I have done, is get in the shower and do my regular cleaning routine. Once I''m clean, I then open the capsule lever to relax under the water and enjoy the scent. I really enjoy the capsules. I only wish more scents were available to North American consumers, I find the limitation of choices very frustrating.
I was sent the Moen IN208H2 Aromatherapy Handshower with INLY Shower Capsules for the purposes of review. I like to be critical in reviews. Personally, I really enjoyed it and will (brag about) recommend it to some of my friends at work. However, there are some situations that will make this a less-than-ideal candidate for your next shower head. If you have poor water pressure (for whatever reason) a large sized shower head is not your optimal choice, choose a smaller shower head. If the cost of shower bombs that only last a few moments in the shower seems unappealing, then another model would likely be a more satisfying purchase for you. A capsule is the same cost as a quality shower bomb. If you or anyone that may use your shower has a pacemaker, deep-brain stimulator, sacral nerve implant or any other implanted device, you should avoid magnets and therefore, this shower head.
The one and only reason I can afford Moen IN208H2 Aromatherapy Handshower with INLY Shower Capsules three stars and not five is that the implanted device warning is not on the outside of the package, it should be plainly printed in large font on the OUTSIDE OF THE PACKAGE. Not all consumers that purchase and install the shower head are the same people that use them. The warning is on a separate, very small piece of paper placed inside the package. This would be easily missed. Not everyone knows that this could be dangerous, especially those that may be buying or installing this for the use of another. A patient may not be aware of the strong magnet until the point of use, when they are alone in the shower. This could be disastrous. Please, Moen, print this as a warning on the outside of the package, so it can be viewed at the point of sale, before the packaging is opened.
